I arrived before first light and set out some bird seed in a few strategic locations in an attempt to bribe this bird into staying put. Ray showed up soon after first light (it gets light around 7:30 am or so). Ray and I both stayed until 9:00 am with no sign of the towhee. Small numbers of White-crowned Sparrows and Tree Sparrows and the usual White-throats and Song Sparrows gave us some hope. I don't know if Mary Twigg will try today but if she finds the bird, I am sure Ray will post that information to the list. I fully intend to take some time off tomorrow and put a greater effort into finding this bird. I will post my results as soon as I can get to a computer (but that may not be until evening). Good birding. J.B. ====================================================== John B. Churchill, M.S.
