We have already taken some initial steps at the Visitor Center, like removing nearby birdfeeders, and are now in the process of evaluating the other suggestions. Here is a summary of the suggestions I received: * dusty window help to cut down on reflections. * place netting over the windows; mirrors in the yard. * move bird feeders and bird baths away from windows. * plantlandscaping that discourages birds from using flight paths that go near windows. * use orange flagging outside the window to break up the reflection * draw shades when you can, hang up mylar strips outside, plant taller shrubs. * hawk silhouettes are only partly effective. * dark-colored netting (which hides the human view) was successful. * mylar bird-scare tape (fluttering or 15" strips adhered across each window) * FOST (fluorescent orange surveyor's tape)-- same as above. * remove reflective coating or plastic coating on windows. * use more silhouettes to break up reflection. * use of screens on windows if applicable.
