There are still about nine spots left on the MDOsprey chili & birds bash on January 14, so please pipe up now if you want to be included! Here is the announcement I posted a few weeks back: For the past 12 years (except for two of them, I think), Les Eastman has hosted the good folks who join in online here. First for the users of The Osprey's Nest bulletin board and now for the users of MDOsprey, Les spends a January morning showing us around Harford and Cecil Counties looking for goodies (on past trips we have had such lovely birds as Painted Bunting, Harlequin Duck, and Common Redpoll, not to mention beaucoup eagles and gulls!) and we then spend the afternoon back at his house feeding up on some lovely chili and beer. Ahhhh, birding can be great. This note is to let all of you know that Les (and more importantly, his wife Jan) has once agreed to host MDOsprey for some good birds and some even better chili. There is a catch, of course. His house, being of normal MD family size, will not hold unlimited numbers. He has asked therefore that we limit the total to 20 (Fran and I already have positions 1 & 2 on the list of attendees). The date of the trip this winter is Sunday, January 14 (the day before a Federal Holiday for all of us so privileged) and attendees will meet at the Havre de Grace Park & Ride lot at 9:00 a.m. So, if you want to be in the select 20, pipe up now and let me know so I can keep the reservations list. Directions to the meeting place: head north on I-95 (allow about an hour and a quarter from the Washington Beltway and I-95 intersection) to exit 89. As you exit, take the left hand fork of the exit ramp then, at the stop sign, turn right to the entrance of the Park & Ride lot. Les has in the past covered Havre de Grace Harbor, the Lapidum Road Boat Launch Area, the Rock Run section of Susquehanna State Park, and of course, the area below Conowingo Dam. If the birds warrant it, however, Les has been known to lead us all over the place in search of exotic Northeastern MD goodies! Remember, all this can be yours! But only if you reserve now ! ! ! Send an e-mail to me directly and I'll keep track of all the reservations for Les. For those of you who haven't done this before, it's a great opportunity to put faces with the names of folks online here at MDOsprey! ======================= Norm Saunders Colesville, Montgomery County, MD marshhawk@worldnet.att.net ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
