It had 12 species with 207 Swans, Canvasbacks, Hoodies and a Redhead. Indian River immediately downstream of the pond had Hoodies and RB Merg, 4 Pintail and a male Goldeneye plus a Killdeer. (After missing Killdeer on all my Christmas Counts, I thought they were frozen out. -Ocean City Inlet had 20 Oldsquaw, 1 Surf Scoter, 1 female White-Winged Scoter, 3 Greater Scaup plus 2 Red Knots among the usual Turnstones and Purple Sand. Also Fish Crow and Oystercatcher. -Skimmer Island from the Rt 50 Bridge had 9 Black Bellied Plover, numerous Dunlin and a Louisiana Heron in the marsh on the west side of the bay. An adult Bald Eagle cruised in and scattered all of the gulls and Brant. -West Ocean City Pond is 80% frozen. Most of the population was resident geese and Mallards with a scattering of other dabblers. -South Ocean Pines must have acquired West Ocean City's flock of Canvasback. There were several hundred there. -Rufous Hummingbird - made a brief 15-20 minute stop around 1:30 and did NOT see it. -Indian River Inlet - 3 very distant Gannets, 3 Oldsquaw, 5+ Purple Sand and 6 Great Cormorant. -Silver Lake - 11 species of waterfowl. But I was unsuccessful at picking out the Tufted Duck from the mass. I counted 35 Redhead (Frank, Colin - start counting those female Redheads! :) -Prime Hook at dusk - got 2 Catbirds one the Dike Trail, but missed the Tree Sparrows. In all, 96 species with 26 species of waterfowl.
