Co., for a short walk. He found 10 Fox Sparrows and 6 Chipping Sparrows, but no White-crowns nor Tree, both of which are usually there. In fact, last year -- which was a pretty mild winter, we had no lingering Fox or Chipping, but a fair number of Tree and White-crowns. This (hard) winter it is the opposite. Weird. Not too much else other than a large (25+) flock of Bluebirds and the sad news that some vandal (I cannot believe it was the Park Dept.) has cut down the clump of cedars in which Long-eared Owls roosted last year. Luckily, it now seems, there were no Long-ears this year at that spot.
