A flock of about 150 Horned Larks kept me entertained for much of the time, as I searched and searched for Longspurs or Snow Buntings. No luck there. But as I drove away from the main flock, a single Snow Bunting flew across the road ahead of me, giving that bit of special reward for the time that had been spent. Other rewards of the visit included great views of a flock of over 200 Cedar Waxwings. These were getting some moisture from melting snow beneath a tree where a snow drift remained. Elsewhere in the area several Savannah Sparrows provided quick glimpses before disappearing in tall grass near the road. The WWTP of Ridgely was still totally frozen, so no birdlife present at that site.
