MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit While sitting on my deck on Sunday at 12:15, watching the action on Jug Bay, i saw a bird flying north, but by the time i got the scope on it, i only saw about 20 seconds of what sure looked like a Sandhill Crane to me. Although i have seen G-b Herons fly with neck extended hundreds of times, it seems it is usually (always?) during low flights, particularly when they are about to land. This bird was way up and had its neck extended the whole time. Basically, it looked like "Stretch Loon", i.e. a loon flight profile, but with enormously long neck and legs. So it would behoove any Jug Bay, Merkle, Patux River Park fans to keep an eye out for it. One wintered with the goose flock at Merkle many years ago, and was actually, not as easy to pick out of the flock as one might think. danny bystrak bristol, AA Co.
