We started at Hains Point, no geese on the golf course, but an adult Merlin perched up near the driving range. We scoped all the gulls we could see, nothing unusual other than a darker-than- normal Herring Gull-type crouched on the ice, so we couldn't see the legs. About Common Gull color it seemed, yellow eyes, moderate head streaking. Who knows... Four-Mile Run had three Greater Scaup and a couple of Redheads among the more common ducks, about 50 Canada Geese, no W-F. Gravelly Point looked promising, just across from Hains Pt., about 200 Canadas but no W-F. Thence to Anacostia Park, where we found another 150 or so Canadas on the playing fields, no W-F., but an adult Lesser BB Gull on the ice and an adult Bald Eagle putting everything up. Kenilworth Park was our last stop, about 350 Canadas, no W-F there either, but we did find an American Tree Sparrow along the weedy woods margin. And home -- hope the bird shows up again!
