Over a period of an hour it roamed throughout all parts of the open area except the eastern end. The pair of Northern Shovelers circled constantly at the north edge of the open area, remaining very cooperatively directly in front of an area where you can walk right to the edge of the lake. We saw four Hooded Mergansers, 3 females and 1 male, at the north edge across from the boat launching ramp. In addition were the usual suspects ... 2 Coots and numerous ducks -- Mallards, Ring Necks, Canvasbacks, and Redheads -- and of course ring billed gulls everywhere.
