Frank Boyle indicates that he is disappointed with the results of taking pictures through his Celestron C90 spotting scope.  I can relate, as years ago, I tried the same with a similar Meade.  The problem is that both scopes are reflector telescopes which contain two mirrors that the image goes through, thus degrading image quality.  I have friends (George and especially LARRY) who give me fits from the images they get with their refractor (non-mirror) telescopes.  All scopes are fixed aperature, which means focusing is critical, and depth of field is not adjustable.  We all use 35mm camera bodies.  A 35mm negative or slide produces 80+ million pixels  versus a digital camera's 3 million pixels.  This becomes increasingly important if one wants an 8X10 print, or cropping on a smaller image size, such as a passerine. Our lenses/scopes have cost less than $500, and we get good results from them.
