Last year the Purple Finch arrival was followed by Pine Siskins a few days later. I will be watching. However, last year at this time I also had dozens of Goldfinches around, whereas about 3 has been the normal in the last couple of weeks. Anyone else short of Goldfinches? For that matter, are others seeing Purple Finches and Siskins now? Earlier this week, a Catbird and a Brown Thrasher responded to my calling and appeared in the hedges beside my driveway. Looks like they are planning to stay through the winter.
