He sat on the rocks below the second dam. With eighty-five percent of his plumage black (with green on the back) his breast and the front of his neck was white. The facial knobs were half black/half white. Other waterfowl that gathered around the open water areas included BUFFLEHEAD, RING-NECKED DUCK, AMERICAN BLACK DUCK, GADWALL, COMMON and HOODED MERGANSER and a couple of REDHEAD. When a mixed flock of perching birds found us on the road we got BROWN CREEPER, RED and WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH and GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET. We had forty-nine species total with flyovers by BALD EAGLE and a SWAN Sp.
