Subject: Harlequin at Black Hill on Sunday 1/14/01 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" I birded Black Hill Regional Park on Sunday 1/14/01 from noon until 2 PM. I walked around the Lake View trail and scoped the ducks from the bridge. The HARLEQUIN duck was to the west of the bridge near the northern shore-it was by itself and easy to see from the bridge. Other ducks of note were: Common Goldeneye (1), Redhead (over 20), Am. Wigeon (a few), Bufflehead (several), Ruddy Duck (several), and Hooded Merganser (several). There were lots of Mallards, Black Ducks, Ring-necked Ducks, Canvasback, Coot, and many hundreds of Canada Geese. There were also several Pied-billed Grebes. The land birds of note included Cedar Waxwings (about 25 in a flock drinking from some open water at the very edge of the inlet), Eastern Bluebird (2), Hermit Thrush, Am. Robin, and both Kinglets.
