Seems folks are seeking Redheads. They've been
consistent at Centennial Park, Howard County, since
at least 28 December, when I found 18. Numbers
of Redheads increased to two dozen on 4 Jan, with
23 present yesterday, 16 Jan. Both sexes present,
but it's about 2/1 male/female. For beginners, there
are usually Canvasback also present, for comparison,
and bunches of Ring-neck Ducks. Test yourself on
distinguishing female Redheads from Ring-necks!
Hooded Mergs have been consistent for the past week.
Buffleheads first appeared yesterday. Take US. 29 to Rt.
108 west. At second traffic light, turn right into park.
Take first right, follow to parking area by boat ramp.
Walk out onto pier to right of boat ramp for excellent
view in both directions of all the open water.

Both Howard County reservoirs, Rocky Gorge/Duckett
and Tridelphia, were frozen yesterday. No open water
at Tridelphia, and precious little at Rocky Gorge.
