A dead-end at the water's edge on Oakley street is one of the best viewing points. That site holds tens of thousands of Canvasbacks, within 10 feet of your parked car, along with a sprinkling of American Wigeon, Lesser Scaup and Mallards and Blacks. Farther out on the water today there were a few Long-tailed Ducks, several Common Goldeneye, and some Tundra Swans. Also in Cambridge, but along the shore to the east of the Route 50 bridge today there was one Horned Grebe and one Red-head amongst the several dozen Canvasbacks in that area. Any birder looking for 'killer' views of the above-named species should not miss a winter visit to the Oakley Street site.
