MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Folks, The SANDHILL CRANE reported on last week's Voice, was present this afternoon, a mile or two from the southern tip of Kent Island. Directions: from US 50, take the first exit on the east side of the Bay Bridge (exit 37) and go south on Rte 8 for about eight or so miles, then bear right on the road to Kent Point. Follow this road about two miles. Joan Decarli and I observed the bird in two different fields (a Bald Eagle prompted it to move, along with its companion Canada Geese). One field was on the left (east) just prior to a dogleg in the road, and the other field was just past the dogleg. The nearest mailbox address read "200." As an added bonus for the trip, there were eight WILD TURKEYs on the west side of Rte 8, oppposite Metapax Plantation Rd., standing right next to the road, and quite unfazed by passing traffic. Many drivers stopped to gawk at the spectacle. Perhaps they weren't wild; is there any way to tell domestics from wilds, besides perhaps size?
