... that after eight years of birding, Alan and I finally spent the Big
Bucks and bought the Swarovski Scope of our dreams. How else to explain
that after spending an entire day at Black Hills and then up at New
Design Road, we saw neither the Harly nor the Snowy? :( Not even the
Longspurs, which aren't on our life lists yet. We cruised around the
Buckeysville area from around 3PM until sometime after 5PM but not a
glimpse of our Arctic friend. We did see some of the bluest bluebirds
ever over at the tree farm, and found one snow bunting amidst the larks,
and warned a handful of newcomers away from the Crawford's ... they now
have an OH-so-friendly orange bumpersticker up on their fence that
suggests they'll take their squirrel gun out on any trespassers.
