Yesterday, 2/5, under sleety skies a large flock of robins descended on my yard in Annapolis to raid the heavily-berried holly trees. 60, 100, more? How do you count a flock of birds where the individuals are flying about? We have had flocks like this in past years but this was by far the largest. Some were trying to eat fruits on the wing from the smaller branches, in a poor imitation of hummingbirds. It was delightfully noisy. They spent the afternoon and may be back today, there are a few holly berries left!
