So there does not appear to be any pattern of vagrancy for Greenfinch, leaving the possibility that the Washington Co. bird is an escape. However, don't forget that birds can fly. But it would be a steep uphill battle to have this bird accepted as a legitimate vagrant, since it would be a first North American record. However, it's a pretty bird. Paul O'Brien Rockville, Mont.
