We arrived south of the dogleg shortly before noon and spent the next hour, or more, vainly searching all nearby fields for the bird. During that time we met only one other birder, a local resident who was present when we arrived and also had not seen the crane. We left and returned shortly after 4 PM. The crane was standing in the first field on the left (east) south of the dogleg (perhaps 0.1-0.2 miles south of the second turn of the dogleg). This is still north of the field and house described by Marshall. We watched from 4:15 until 4:50 during which time the crane loosely associated with a flock of 18 Canada Geese feeding in the same field. It fed (apparently) by picking small items (too small to be visible in the scope at from perhaps 60 yards) from the ground. The light from the sun, low to the west, provided great views. The crane was still there when we left, and we met no other birders. Based on our experience, and the other reports from yesterday, it appears the crane disappeared from ready view at least between 10 AM and 1 PM, but was easy to see either early in the day or from mid afternoon on.
