I guess I am still old-fashioned that way sometimes, too. When I started, it was simply called bird-watching. Now the term "birding" speaks more of it as a sport than a hobby. I guess "bird-watching" went the way of the Yellow-shafted Flicker, the Myrtle Warbler and (more recently) the Oldsquaw!
