A very fresh bird with nice internal markings on the tertials, scapulars, and coverts. Also present were 9 HARLEQUIN DUCKS, which I was finally able to see well for the first time (1 female, 3 im males, 5 ad males). Also two flyby White-winged Scoters at the inlet. Also one apparent 2nd-winter LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was feeding on the flats at 27th St. with a large number of Ring-billeds and some Herrings. This bird looked a bit weird to me, being a bit bigger and shorter winged than I expected, and having a significant pale base to the bill (unusual in 2nd-winters). The gray of the mantle though was dead on. This evening was the lowest tide I have ever seen in Ocean City. Skimmer Island was bigger than I've ever seen it and I almost could have walked across the Bay under Route 50!
