Excellent view of white form of Ross Goose among the several thousand snows between the loop and the visitor center in wonderful light on Monday AM. Saw all the typical field marks in Kowa scope at 15-45X. Very stubby beak, round head, very small size; blue-gray base of beak was more visible at certain angles. Base of beak vertical, not indented like all the other nearby geese. 2. Very good view of two rough-legged hawks near Shorter's Wharf around 1PM on Monday. (1 was seen near dusk the night before.) Also present in this area at dusk on Sunday were 7 short-eared owls, 5 N.Harrier, 4 snipe, and 2 woodcock. This is the area of Blackwater Marsh along Maple Dam Road between the Shorter's Wharf bridge and the eagle's nest that is near the road (which by the way has an adult incubating on it). All the best Fred ===== Frederick D.
