The bird was flying upriver, just down from the Metro bridge over the Potomac, closer to the VA side. This is also by the railroad bridge where they have nested in past years. Speaking of the railroad bridge, 3 times in the past 2 weeks I've seen a PEREGRINE perched on the top as I've been riding home from work. The PEREGRINE seems to prefer the DC end of the bridge, and the OSPREY the VA end. But I can't imagine peaceful co-existence. Will be interesting to see how the respond to each other.
