The shrike, which has been seen almost daily for the last two weeks, was observed chasing a cardinal, a flock of Red-winged Blackbirds, and a number of sparrows -- all unsuccessfully. At one point, he was perched cooperatively on a broken corn stalk about 3 or 4 feet off the ground at a distance of 40-50 yards. We also drove out to the airfield and quickly found flocks of both Snow Buntings and Lapland Longspurs. One feeding longspur actually allowed the entire group to approach on foot to within 10-15 feet. Great looks also at Horned Larks (on the airfield) and a variety of waterfowl. All in all, a very good day. Kyle Rambo Hollywood, Maryland krambo@us.hsanet.net __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo!
