We walked out to the end of the boardwalk and back. Not a snipe did we see. However, we did see about 2 WOOD DUCKs (a pair), at least 6 male GREEN-WINGED TEALs, 6 HOODED MERGANSERs (3 pairs), 1 FOX SPARROW, and 1 GRAY CATBIRD. The sparrow and the catbird were in view at the same time, just before the first bridge on the boardwalk trail, on the right, with a group of Song and White-throated Sparrows. As of 1:30 pm today this has been a fierce nor'easter: it has been raining lightly for almost three hours now! The wind has picked up to at least 10 mph, and the temperature has dropped two degrees from the morning high. (-; Seriously, though, I had been hoping for the whole thing to fall as snow in Washington.....
