The black and orange reflect the colors of Lord Baltimore and can be seen in the Maryland flag as yellow and orange. I think the reason people are trying to get the Raven as a second state bird is a knee-jerk reaction to the Baltimore Ravens winning the Super Bowl. But what about next year when they tank. Or, if not then then later (ie Washington Redskins after the glory days of the 1980s). Write to your state representatives and senators and tell them to vote against House Bill 1372.
