I would suggest that Joe purchase this guide (available at ANS Bookstore, and online) and also consult the issue of Birding from a year or so back which highlighted this new guide. The Bahamas support a number of species which are not found on mainland North America, despite the proximity of the islands to Florida, as well as species which do occur occasionally as vagrants (e.g., La Sagra's Flycatcher, Thick- billed Vireo) and for which a trip to the Bahamas is a good learning experience.
