Tried for the Shrike at Patuxent NAS, but had no luck. Both Friday night and Saturday morning the winds were pretty fierce. I did see, at least briefly a Red-necked Grebe looking out where Goose Creek enters the Bay. I did not get a great look, and not enough to count, but did see the red neck and a white patch on its head. I have not seen one before in breeding plumage and had to check the field guide. Anyway, there might be one in the area. Thanks to Jim and Kyle for their help in obtaining access to the base. At Point Lookout, there were no scoters to be found (where are the scoters this year!), but did see 35 Common Snipe in a field several miles outside the park. I also visited Calvert Cliffs power plant expecting to see Bonies and possible Little Gull. I had checked last year messages and thought it could be a good time. Only Ring-billed Gulls, and very few of them.=20 Today, at Rocks State Park in Harford County there were two Phoebe's in two different locales. This evening, while doing several errands, I noticed ten to fifteen flocks of Geese all heading North.=20 Dave Powell Pylesville, MD Harford County dave036@earthlink.net=20 I went to Calvert Cliffs power plant and=20 ========================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ========================================================================= ===========================================================================
