Hi all - Looking at our notes from last year, this is about when we started to check Back River for Little Gulls -- recall last year we had 3-4 out on the river but none actually inside the plant. One thing we have found uncertain and that is access -- usually we get in, twice we have been turned back at the gate by a guard who says he knows nothing about birders being allowed in. This is frustrating after a long drive. Does anyone have any recent experience with Back River access (yea or nay) and does anyone have phone number of sonmeone in authority (manager, resources person, or...) who could be called beforehand to arrange access? Unfortunately the "Birders Welcome" sign which had stood at the entrance since 1980 was taken down a couple of years ago when they rebuilt gates and since then folks have, on occasion, been sent away. Of course the river and Diamond Point can still be birded but nothing beats the close looks one can get of gulls within the plant itself. Thanks for any input...
