The swans will still sit on them and not lay new eggs. This eliminates a year of successful breeding without killing the mature swans. Parke. The Yellowthroat) of possible plans to "addle" the eggs of Mute Swans, pressed me to tell him exactly what addling is. My dictionary is of little help, defining addle (the verb form) as: "1. to become rotten. 2. to become confused".
