If that's the case, then the railroad bridge over the Potomac R. just south of the 14th St bridge must be ideal. I'm not sure how many years Ospreys have been nesting here, but they obviously like the spot. As posted on this list earlier, I had seen an Osprey near this nest site a few weeks ago, and had seen an individual in the area over the past few weeks. This morning (Fri, 3/16) I saw 2 Ospreys perched together on the nest itself. Wonder how long it will be before eggs are laid, and how does that compare to the egg dates in the Yellow Book? And from what I saw on this list earlier, Ospreys are farther along in the nesting process here than they are farther south in the Chesapeake Bay (at least based on Marty Cribb's post). Is that significant, or just happenstance? Anyone have any hypotheses?
