Comments: cc: voice@capaccess.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi MD, Jim Paulus called recently to tell me he had been to Town Hill on Sunday, March 11, and saw 3 Golden Eagles in their northward migration. The third of those at 12:37 was Jim's 500th Golden Eagle at stationary hawk watches in Allegany Co., MD, since he began in the Fall of 1990. Most of those were seen at Town Hill with some of the more recent ones at an orchard off Williams Rd. above Cumberland. Health problems in recent years have limited his trips to Town Hill and the final 100 came slowly. Nonetheless, a remarkable record! I know many of you have visited Town Hill and ticked off a few of those 500 with Jim. And just to show that he's not planning to sit on his laurels, he was back on the mountain on Saturday, March 17, and had one of those special days that make the slow ones more bearable. Between 10:00 and 1:30 he picked up 9 Golden Eagles (all adult) and 2 Bald Eagles as well as 2 Harriers, 4 Sharpies, 1 Red-shouldered and 6 Red-tails along with 2 flocks of 38 and 31 Canadas. If you have the opportunity, congratulate Jim on his remarkable achievement and perhaps join him on the mountain to search for those approaching big dark birds. Happy trails ....
