We were there in the morning from around 9:00 to after 10:00 and watched the field practically crawling with the birds. I reached a scope count of 13 Longspurs, with about half of them well along into breeding plumage. These were amongst over 50 Horned Larks that I counted in the same group on the ground. Prior to their landing where we could watch them, the flock swirled around the area, letting me count over 100 in the air while more were also being seen in the field by my wife. She also saw a single, fly-away Snow Bunting as we approached the area. I missed it, and I also missed the single Tree Swallow that she saw on a power line closer to Ridgely. But when we returned to home on Leeds Creek, there were over 50 Tree Swallows over the water right beside our house, so I would have to say, the Tree Swallows are certainly here.
