After nearly an hour of looking (big field -long road) I found a large flock (60+) of horned larks. Within the flock I counted 8 Lapland Longspurs, three of which were breeding plumage males. They didn't hang around for leisurely observation, however. They went with the flock of horned larks and settled in a depression 100 yards away and out of view, probably close to where they had been for the previous hour. Bill PS I had my first snowy egret of the year for the yard list Saturday morning, fishing with great enthusiasm along the shore!
