He saw five LITTLE GULLS, four of them out on the river from the restaurant parking lot behind the Royal Farms gas station (one was an immature, one summer adult, two winter adults) and also a adult in winter plumage inside the Back River WWTP -- the first he has actually seen inside the plant. It was flying around with about 30 Bonies hawking for insects. The immature bird is, I believe, the first reported by anyone so it means that at least six Little Gulls have been around. Barry noted that only about 300 Bonies were flying about, a lot were sitting on mud flats at Diamond Point. He also said that the bright sunlight made viewing difficult, esp. as the morning progressed -- overcast days are better. The birds seem to be more active in the morning.
