He reported seeing a Surf Scoter = that had a "wire-like protrusion" protruding about 5 inches vertically = from the bird's rump area. He also said the bird appeared to be rather = tame. He was wondering if the wire might be from a radio transmitter. I = haven't heard of anybody radio tracking scoters. Has anybody heard of any = research about scoters or have any ideas what the wire might be?
