Mostly WHITE THROAT and SONG Sparrows, but one FIELD Sparrow near the lower end. Lots of WAXWINGS and several BLUEJAYS also on that end. There was a single COOT hanging out with a handful of PIED-BILL Grebes. On the upper end of the lake between Lake Elkhorn and the beaver dam, we found one beautiful PALM Warbler, two RUSTY Blackbirds and enjoyed a too-brief MERLIN flyby. The Beaver pond hosted a GREEN-WING TEAL male and another couple said they saw a WIDGEON. None of the GULLS reported in the area yesterday were present. Also, the LOON was not present either.
