The deck is located in Waldorf, Charles Co., MD. Birds identified by sight and sound were: 2 Common Loon - flyers - first for the year yard 4 Double-crested Cormorants - flyers - first for the year yard 9 Great Blue Heron - flyers 6 Canada Geese - flyers 2 Wood Duck (one male, one female) - flyers - first for the year yard 1 Mallard - flyer 6 Turkey Vultures - flyers 1 Marsh Hawk - my first spring yard bird - flyer 1 Cooper's Hawk - flyer 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk - flyer 8 Mourning Dove 4 Red-bellied Woodpeckers 5 Downy Woodpeckers 2 Northern Flickers 1 singing Phoebe 2 Purple Martins - flyers - first for the year yard 14 Bluejays 1 calling Fish Crow 2 calling Common Crow 4 non calling crows 6 Carolina Chickadees 7 Tufted Titmouse 2 White-breasted Nuthatches 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2 Eastern Bluebird - female is attending the nest box in the from yard 10 American Robin 12 European Starlings 8 Yellow-rumped Warbler - moving through 6 Northern Cardinals 1 Chipping Sparrow - first for the year yard 10 White-throated Sparrow 6 Dark-eyed Juncos - numbers have dropped off quickly 1 Red-winged Blackbird male 160 Common Grackles - mostly flying over 6 Brown-headed Cowbirds - 2 females 8 American Goldfinch 6 House Finch Good birding.
