I started near Jug Bay and worked my way south to Chalk Point. Highlights included easily over 100 Myrtle Warblers in many small flocks, a single flock of 6 yellow Palm Warblers ornamenting a bush along the boardwalk at Jug Bay, 10 CHIMNEY SWIFTS swirling around with hundreds of swallows over Merkle and three species of terns, including a flock of 44(!) Royals loafing on the pilings near the historic site at Eagle Harbor. On a sad note, I found a locked gate blocking my entrance to Aquasco Farm, one of the more interesting sections of Patuxent River Park. Access had never been a problem in the past; this gate had always been left open. Does anyone know what's going on here? Despite this morning's weather, it must be spring; I saw 90 species in or from PG this weekend.
