Took a mid-day trip out to Centennial Park with the family. Lots of people out there, but still came up with some birds. Best birds were three Ospreys that were fishing the lake. Watch one takes three dives into the lake, and on his third try he was successful and came up with a small fish, then flew off towards the east gate. There was a Caspian Tern that made a few passes over the lake. Also on the lake was a Common Loon, two Pied- billed Grebe, four Ring-necked Duck, and a Greater Scaup. Up near the small pond were many Palm Warblers. Other birds at the lake were: Canada Geese Mallards American Kestrel American Coots Ring-billed Gull Mourning doves Belted Kingfisher Red-bellied Woodpecker Eastern Phoebes American Crow Tufted Titmouse American Robin Northern Mockingbird European Starling Song Sparrow White-throated sparrow Northern Cardinal Red-winged Blackbird House Finch American Goldfinch House sparrow Also a question. I have a bird that been at my feeder for the past two day, that look like a Catbird, but does not have the black cap, and I did not notice any chestnut undertail coverts. There is a little white mix in on the throat. The rest is the same as a Catbird. Could this be a female, or an immature catbird? Tom Miller Eldersburg Md.
