The bird was found on Good Hope Road about 100 yards East of New Hampshire Avenue. It turns out this is about 1/8 mile from its home. From our first view we could see a band, but not the leather strap. After taking some brief notes, Karen and I raced the next three miles home, grabbed the camera and raced back. It was still there so we shot about 40 digital pictures before it moved around a little, which exposed the leather strap. It appeared to be caught, so we made some calls and someone from the Chesapeake Wildlife Sanctuary met us so we could show her the bird. Upon our return the bird was gone, but the sanctuary person said she knew who the bird belonged to, so she would see if it returned home. I don't know if the bird has been retrieved yet, so it may still be in the area.
