When we got there we heard dozens of Yellow-rumps singing and many moving through the trees along the river. Besides the Myrtles we saw the following in about an hour's birding: 1 Little Green Heron 1 Osprey with fish 1 Horned Grebe 5-6 Rough-winged Swallows Lots of D-C Cormorants heading upriver 2 Kingfishers in display flight high overhead 2 Red-shouldered Hawks Pileated, Hairy, Downy, Red-bellied WPs and a number of Flickers 3 Louisiana Waterthrushes 4 (yellow) Palm warblers 1 Pine Warbler 1 Gnatcatcher 1 male Purple Finch 3 Ruby-crowned Kinglets (all singing) Plus usual gang of Chickadees, Wrens, etc. The wildflowers are lovely now -- Dutchman's Breeches, Virginia Bluebell, Spring Beauty, Bloodroot, and both yellow and white Trout Lilies.
