I stopped quickly at the terminus of the C&O Canal in Cumberland before work. One of the two Black-crowned Night Herons found there last Wednesday by Dave Perry continues on the small island in the Potomac. Also present were 12 Ring-billed Gulls, 1 Double-crested Cormorant and 2 Pied-billed Grebes. Three distant brown swallows were almost certainly Rough-wingeds. Happy trails ....
