Hi,


   Late report of Ft Frederick State Park and Big Pool
area on April 7 and 8. This is part of my camping with
Maryland Company Wayne's Light Infantry Corp of living
history event of "1776". Birding was slow all day Sat
with overcast and light rain on and off. Late sat
afternoon, good birds seen around Big Pool.

   2  Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
   2  Hairy Woodpecker
   5  Northern Flicker
   1  Pileated Woodpecker
   4  Eastern Phoebe

  22  Northern Rough-winged Swallow
   1  Bank Swallow
  57  Barn Swallow
   5  American Crow
   2  Carolina Chickadee (no Black-capped anywhere)
   2  White-breasted Nuthatch

   4  Cedar Waxwing
   5  Eurpoean Starling
   4  Yellow-rumped Warbler

   3  White-throated Sparrow
  51  Common Grackle (flyby)
  11  American Goldfinch
   3  House Finch
   1  Purple Finch - Sunday
      41 species

At the marshy pond near Big Pool, long stream of 405
Tree Swallow, 20 N. Rough-wings, 51 Barn Swallows and
6 Chimney Swifts headed NE. 13 other Tree and 6 Barn
hanging around the park and over the fort. 2 N
Roughwings and 1 Bank Swallows at the river going
upriver. At the same time as the swallows, 1 Osprey, 1
N. Harrier and 3 kestrels headed NE over the pond.
Pileated Woodpecker seen over the fort toward the
picnic area below the hill while on guard duty at the
barracks before headed over to the the hall for the
dance.
