It was a very good birding day at Kinder Park and great fun. Good Friday the 13th was a good birding day! That was my first visit to KP and will not be my last. It was good meeting David Farner, the ranger at the park. Last time I saw him he was zooming off on his cart to see the Prothonotary. Hope you did see it, Dave. I very much enjoyed watching the pair of Kestrels. In addition, there was a large number of Bluebirds nesting in the boxes. A very nice occurrence to see. My Good Friday birding continued at Piney Branch Nature Park with my grandson. We arrived at 3:30 and hiked for three hours. By this time the sun was out and it was quite warm. We hiked for hours and left no trail unturned. Added; Blue Gray Gnatcatcher [6] Red Bellied Woodpecker Barn, Tree and perhaps Cliff [very straight edge tail] Swallows Many Myrtle Warblers Saw more; Broad Winged Hawks...Interestingly, I gave my grandson the task of IDing this buteo that he has never seen. Many White Throated Sparrows Eastern Towhee Palm Warblers White eyed Vireos and more Bluebirds. and naturally the usuals.
