Date: Sat, 14 Apr 2001 16:48:00 -0400 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: Fred Fallon Subject: Gov Br Rd/Izaak Walton area in Bowie MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit A 2-hr walk along Gov Bridge Rd and along the Patuxent River yielded nothing not hitherto reported but some seasonal firsts for us: 1 Broad-winged Hawk 1 Winter Wren ~20 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, most singing - a virtual flood 1 Gold-crowned Kinglet 10 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers 5 Parulas 25 Myrtles, a few in spring plumage 5 Black-and-whites 5 Palms 1 Common Yellowthroat 10 Rusty Blackbirds + the usual residents The following were conspicuously absent in suitable habitat: Blue-winged Teal, Blue-headed Vireo, White-eyed Vireo, Louisiana Waterthrush, Prothonotary Warbler, D-e Junco. Also, in our yard, R-t Hummer and returning Catbird, both earlier by 8 days than any previous return in 23 seasons.
