I had an enjoyable walk around the Pond during lunchtime. Dispite the
wind, there was a good variety of birds at the pond, including:

     2 White Eyed Vireos (singing)
     7 Blue Gray Gnatcatchers
     6 Mrytle Warblers
     1 Field Sparrow
     5 Caspian Terns
     1 Song Sparrow
     2 White Throated Sparrows
     2 Mute Swans

Plus, the usual numbers of geese, mallards, and gulls. But, perhaps
more interesting was that I bumped into my parents next to the road on
my way back into my building and my father told me that he and my
mother had gotten very close looks at a Scarlet Tanager in Fort
Washington Park in Prince George's County this morning, both at rest
and in flight. I don't know where in the park they spotted it, but I
suspect it was in the vicinity of the Fort or the visitor's center.

     Good birding,
