A friend and I hiked a few trails to see what we could locate. The brisk wind made it even more chilly. Highlights along the Potomac were several hundred Coot Caspian Terns many Chimney Swifts Tree Swallows Barn Swallows Field Sparrows Out on the sandbars, were a few Great Blues, Black-backed gulls [Greaters] and Ring-Billed Gulls. The paths along Dyke Trail yielded, Carolina Wrens White-throated Sparrows Osprey overhead many Yellow Rumps Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher Palm Warbler Hairy Woodpecker Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Heard; Red-bellied Woodpecker, Catbird and of course all the usuals. Cloudy and cold and drizzly and we kept a brisk step.
