(The former at least temporarily won the day.) A singing YELLOW-THROATED VIREO that we eventually saw high above us. A silent male ORCHARD ORIOLE along the towpath above the pond area. I have never seen this species in this spot before. Furthermore, today's date is a week earlier than my previous early record for this species in Montgomery County. And yes, there were tremendous numbers of YELLOW-THROATED WARBLERS everywhere. At River Rd. and Sycamore Landing Rd., later this morning there were: a circling BROAD-WINGED HAWK a singing PRAIRIE WARBLER and numerous FIELD SPARROWS. Mike Bowen Bethesda MD D.H.
